Re: Unable to update RD-5R
Thanks for the helpful replies! It was actually a combination of things... 1. Wrong cable... I was using the cable for my UV5R (they are now appropriately labled) 2. Wrong CPS software version... I had upgraded the CPS version to the latest as a troubleshooting step (turns out to have been a bad ide...

Re: Hello ...
Welcome Bob, from a fellow NH HAM! I saw your QRZ page and we have a couple of things (other than ham radio) in common... photography, and mountain trekking. Hope to hook up with you on the bands. I listen to TG3100 most of the day.

Re: RD5R Firmware Questions
Hi, Hmmm, I'm a bit lost here ;-) So, you have a CSV file containing your 5 contacts. Now, you connect your RD5R, which already have a codeplug flashed in, to your computer, using its USB cable. You read your radio's codeplug using the OpenGD77 CPS. You go to the "Digital Contacts" list (double cli...

Re: RD5R Firmware Questions
Hi Wolfgang, Thank you for your response. It worked! I figured out what I needed to do after fklashing the firmware (the easy part). 1. Extract the codeplug data from my RD5R to CSV files 2. Rename the files as needed for the import process (fron the instruction guide of the Codeplug to CSV software...

Re: RD5R Firmware Questions
Hi Daniel, I actually did everything you suggested. I edited the CSV to allow me to more tailor the entries and remove any charactersn that might cause me trouble (+,-,&, etc). But when the data was imported to my radio, they were blank. As for the .gd77 versus .dat file, the only codeplug format th...

Re: RD5R Firmware Questions
Well the good news is that I can restore the OEM FW if needed. The bad news is that I needed to. The FW update went just fine. However, all of my contacts were removed. So, I used the CSV converter tool to export the 5 CSV's from my Baofeng codeplug, and then imported them to an empty OpenGD77 codep...
