Re: Maximum Power on TYT-MD-9600

Doesn't work from the front panel, I'll try the mic although I don't like using mics with buttons on them when mobile. UPDATE> Yes, the microphone buttons work. Thanks for the detailed instruction. I have a couple buttonless Retevis mics that work fine on the QYT and Leixen mobiles I have but don't ...

Can't set +W- power on RT90 version 20231006211324 HW V5

From the Manual: "Power can be set to 50mW, 250mW, 500mW, 750mW, 1W, 2W, 3W, 4W, 5W and +W-. The MD-9600 has higher power output and the power settings are different." Using P1+Up/dwn on my radio I get: "100mW, 250mW, 500mW, 750mW, 1W, 5W, 10W, 25W, 40W" No "+W-". Also if I program a channel to "+W-...

Re-read the manual section.
Also, are you running a recently beta release of the firmware?
Yes, the one with APRS beaconing in it.

Re: Maximum Power on TYT-MD-9600

You can set user power using the radio, as stated in the user manual https://github.com/LibreDMR/OpenGD77_UserGuide/blob/master/OpenGD77_User_Guide.md#squelch-and-power-settings But who read the manual... :D Manual FUBAR: "Power can be set to 50mW, 250mW, 500mW, 750mW, 1W, 2W, 3W, 4W, 5W and +W-. Does it receive ?
Dummy load makes for a very poor antenna
But on second thought it still should "see" one of my other HT's nearby - I'll try that tomorrow after I change the fuse.

UPDATE> It's transmitting and receiving fine. Just a minor bug I found in the OpenGD77 firmware.

Re: Maximum Power on TYT-MD-9600

It appears that you can't set the power to +W- on the radio itself, only on a channel via the CPS? If I then change the power on that channel on the radio (P1+up/dn) I can't set it back to +W- ? BTW got 54W with +W- on VHF until I popped the 5A fuse on the cigar lighter cable I was using on my couch...

Re: MD-9600 / RT-90 Installation

Well, had a heck of a time getting the driver installed. I had my RT-3S working fine with my desktop but my SSD crapped out and I had to restore a several month's old backup as my latest was bad :( . I'd post a link to the driver but I hear tell that's not allowed here :o . PM me if you want/need it...

Vox was not designed for packet use, however it may be possible to modify the firmware to have an option to have less VOX tail than 0.5 secs. Specifically for packet use.
I've read that it needs to be at or under 250MS, with 50MS being ideal.

Re: MD-9600 / RT-90 Installation

Also, double check that you have selected the correct radio type on the firmware downloader page. I have sometimes tried to load a MD9600 when the downloader was set to MDUV380 and it behaved as you are describing. I'm not safe in assuming a brand new radio shipped from China by Retevis is a V5? :o
