DMR Rx clicking and other sound problems
DMR Rx clicking and other sound problems
FYI
We currently have a small problem where if the radio is in DMR mode, occasionally there is a buzz sound from the speaker.
This can often occur when a repeater carrier stops transmitting, but also seems to be triggered by random QRM.
We tried to fix this by filling the DMR audio buffer with silence when the DMR Rx signal ends, however this seemed to cause clicking during DMR Rx on some radios.
So I had to remove this buffer clearing, and the next private alpha will have the noises again, until we can find another solution to the problem, because removing the clicking from the DMR Rx audio is more important than the occasional buzz noise

Re: DMR Rx clicking and other sound problems
Sometimes the audio it's like distorting, and it creeps into modulation... don't have any reason, sometimes distort and some not...
Re: DMR Rx clicking and other sound problems
OK
We are fixing the I2S audio bus problems, but I dont know if the distortion is the on the I2S or whether its perhaps some errors in the DMR audio data.
We do not have a method to detect Rx BER in either the GD77 or MD9600 firmware, so its difficuoit to know where the problem is occurring
Re: DMR Rx clicking and other sound problems
We think we have a fix for the DMR Rx clicking problem
It was being caused by the I2S buffer being emptied by the C6000 under some conditions

Re: DMR Rx clicking and other sound problems
You don’t have this problem, it was specific to the firmware during development and is not something a user can change.

Re: DMR Rx clicking and other sound problems
Hello, my Md9600 makes these clicks on the speaker at the end of the analog RX and dmr even with volume at zero, is there a solution?
Re: DMR Rx clicking and other sound problems
This is a design flaw with some versions of these radios.
It needs a hardware mod to fix it.

Re: DMR Rx clicking and other sound problems
There is also a click suppression option in the Sound Options screenG4EML wrote: ↑Fri Sep 30, 2022 2:36 pmThis is a design flaw with some versions of these radios.

Re: DMR Rx clicking and other sound problems
Many thanks to all of you, super solved here, the clicks are gone.VK3KYY wrote: ↑Fri Sep 30, 2022 8:38 pmThere is also a click suppression option in the Sound Options screenG4EML wrote: ↑Fri Sep 30, 2022 2:36 pmThis is a design flaw with some versions of these radios.
