Re: Baofeng 1801 not enter in upload mode
Hello, I have the same issue with a radio from the same seller.
I have contacted the seller to report the issue and they are going to talk to Baofeng technicians to see what can be done. They seem to be helpful.
Will report back if any progress.

Yes, they respond - so it's not a scam, but we have to figure it out, how to load opengd77 on it.
Is there any difference on hardware?

I have never had one of these before so can't answer that. Will wait to see what Baofeng HQ come back with in case perhaps there is a different key combination or will have to be manually flashed with new firmware.

Yes that cable has the converter in the USB plug, recognisable as it is a 'fat' USB plug- dongle sized. I have connected this to my 1801 and does allow config of the radio settings via Baofeng software.
It does not affect the behaviour of going into firmware mode though; the green light does not come on with this cable connected.

Hi,
I would like to see some pictures of the PCB.
Cheers.

Sounds really strange.G1LRO wrote: ↑Tue Jun 07, 2022 3:55 pmYes that cable has the converter in the USB plug, recognisable as it is a 'fat' USB plug- dongle sized. I have connected this to my 1801 and does allow config of the radio settings via Baofeng software.

Re: Baofeng 1801 not enter in upload mode
Yes, this info was by seller. He will give us an info, how to put into upgrade mode. I hope we manage to install opengd77 on this new station.
Re: Baofeng 1801 not enter in upload mode
It sounds suspiciously like this version of the radio is using a different processor, and probably a completely different board.
If it needs a usb to serial chip in the cable then it won’t work with the current OpenGD77 firmware which is written to use the USB features of the processor.

I just received this from the seller who has spoken to Baofeng so I fear you are correct:G4EML wrote: ↑Wed Jun 08, 2022 9:03 amIt sounds suspiciously like this version of the radio is using a different processor, and probably a completely different board.

"they just mentioned that the new version is with different chips, and they didn’t produce the old version for a long time."
