UV380 reboot loop

Post by KN6RSY » Sun May 05, 2024 6:28 pm

Hello there!

I just got a MD UV380 on eBay and tried to load OpenGD77 on it, both the 12-31-23 and 4-12-24 versions and the 4-30-24 CPS but end up in what looks like a boot loop with just the title "OpenGD77" being readable for about a half a second.

Using the TYT Firmware Downloader I have been able to flash back to the stock fw. Attached is the info from the v1.20 TYT CPS after reading the radio.

Could it be related, as well, when I run the installer for the OpenGD CPS the wdi installer seems to hang as well then close itself.

Cheers!

Try to boot the OpenGD77 with SK2 + Down key held down.

Just did a flash of 4-12 and it immediately started to boot loop but when I held down SK2 "Settings Updated" flashes on the screen before it turns off and back on again.

So, let me ask few things.

Did you tried to re-download the latest firmware (latest beta), and flash it ?
Does the "Firmware loader" window title displays '[+DMR]' string ?.
Running the manufacturer's firmware/CPS, did you tried to flash a simple codeplug (like 2 channels, one zone, etc), then flash back the OpenGD77 ?

Before we get any further, I want to thank you for the assistance!

the OpenGD77 CPS does show the [ +DMR ] in the title bar, and I did just try with a fresh code plug that has my (turned off) hotspot frequency with a 4000 and 1 talkgroup contact channel.
After downloading a fresh beta and following all the steps ends up with the flash with the same result of restarting at the title screen.

Hmmm, really strange.
Could you send me an email, I will ask you to test few things, using a special firmware.

BTW, you wrote that the CPS installed closed itself, that is also weird. Which Windows version are you running ?

Cheers.
