Hi all,I'm very new to dmr so don't shout at me.when open my local dmr repeater I can hear people but after a while it goes quiet until I open it again.is there a way of getting around this.

Is it a Brandmeister repeater ?
If you key up a talkgroup it's normally active for 15 minutes and if there is no local activity the dynamic talkgroup is removed from the repeater.
Some repeaters have some static talkgroups.
Most DMR systems have some sort of portal where you can see such things.

Hi,and yes it's on the Brandmeister network.is there any way to keep it from timing out?,would a hotspot help.

On your own hotspot you can set any talkgroup as static and the last keyed dynamic talkgroup is kept as "autostatic" until you select
another talkgroup or send a TG4000 disconnect.

No, you can not. because the repeater is not yours and you have no way to configure it. If you own a hotspot, then you can configure it the way you want. you can say a talk group will be there forever (Static) or something like that.
