Display issue with TYT MD-UV390 Plus 10W

Hi, I have the TYT MD-UV390 Plus 10W, it was ordered at Aliexpress in june 2025. I’m experiencing display issue (as some others users too) when loading firmware R20240908 : There is no display at all…

Now running under version 20240908143155 [9947546] without display issue but
GPS isn’t working, says ‘no GPS’.
There is supposed to be a hardware fix by replacing 2 resistors (0402 82R SMDT), but no one gave feedback to tell if it fixed the display isue or not and the thread is closed.

Try last beta version, should work fine. It's working for me without any issues (Other than the darker display).

Of course, this is not a solution to the display problem, I'm used to it, but GPS works.

Thanks for answering, I just tried the Beta fw and didn't work. no display at all... maybe I got the wrong one...

The problem with this display brightness on the 10W radios has been discussed extensively on this forum and IIRC is actually a hardware 'feature' on these radios, so that even with the official firmware the display is not as bright on the 10W radios as it is on the 5W radios.

You must however load the 10W compatible firmware, because the signal that turns backlight on / off is controlled from a different pin on the MCU/CPU. Hence why the 5W radio firmware won't work on the 10W radio.

There isn't a firmware fix that can make it any brighter.

The only way to mask the issue is to create a theme with colours that are higher contrast.

IMO the default black&white theme is probably already the highest contrast available, but you could try different contrasting colours

I just tried it again, this one : MD-UV380/RT-3S/DM-1701/RT-84 Beta version 2025 03 23

Still the same, blank screen... no luck for me !
What am I doing wrong ?

Have you tried the other version that is not 10W_PLUS.
In that one can select the 10W model.

Depending on the 10W variant that may work with your display problem.
