Display issue with TYT MD-UV390 Plus 10W
Re: Display issue with TYT MD-UV390 Plus 10W
I tried the Beta for 10W Plus: No display
I tried the Beta for 10W Plus Japan: No display
The only one that works with a display is the Beta for UV390 but it says I don't have a GPS and the power is limited to 5W obviously
On my Aliexpress order it says I ordered a TYT MD-UV390 Plus with GPS...

try with OpenMDUV380.zip and later you can select 10W in the options
Re: Display issue with TYT MD-UV390 Plus 10W
Are you 100% sure that it's a GPS featured radio, as the firmware detects it by checking that it spits some NMEA sentences.
Maybe the radio as some HW problem in that case.
You could try to reset the settings (hold down SK2 key when powering up the radio).

Effectively, there is no GPS in that radio ! I ordered the wrong unit by looking at the description instead of the picture... Aliexpess website is sometime not so intuive !

Re: Display issue with TYT MD-UV390 Plus 10W
Too low voltage of the screen backlight, I bought RT82 and changed the display from UV390, you won't believe it but the UV390 screen is bright, I replaced two resistors with one 0603 10 ohm, it became brighter, but darker than RT82
Re: Display issue with TYT MD-UV390 Plus 10W
I will add that after replacing the output transistor for the backlight with FMMT718 (there was no FMMT717 in my store), the screen became brighter than the RT82, previously they used FMMT717, why they changed it is unknown, perhaps the output resistors did not need to be changed, but I previously replaced them with 10 ohm 0603
