Auto off function
Auto off function
Is there any auto off or standby function I can enable to save the battery being exhausted when I forget to turn the radio off ?
Re: Auto off function
Two things I can think of.
1. Menu -> options -> general options-> Eco Level
This is how much time extra circuitry of the radio will go to sleep

2. Menu -> options -> general options-> APO/APO with RF
https://github.com/LibreDMR/OpenGD77_Us ... -power-off

Re: Auto off function
Be aware that the firmware can't completely turn the radio off, it can only turn off the display and the RF chips etc, and put the CPU into a lower power mode.
However the radio will still consume around 50mA

Re: Auto off function
Thank you for that, thought I had read something in the manual, will have a look at the Eco settings
Re: Auto off function
Is there a way to implement APO if the battery level gets below a set value?
It would be nice to use the radio for automatic transmissions without user input, and make sure the battery doesn't fully die.
Example usecase:
Hiking in a remote area, radio is used for APRS TX with an APRS mode, that transmits location automatically. When the battery gets to 50%, the radio turns off, so it will be available for communcation later. It would be even better if the radio could do a series of actions once a battery has drained to a level: turn of GPS, select a different channel (without APRS or any auto transmission).
Is there anything like this on the roadmap @VK3KYY ?

These radios are not designed for your use case.HA7AB wrote: ↑Thu Jun 19, 2025 3:34 pmIs there a way to implement APO if the battery level gets below a set value?

As I said previously, the firmware can't turn these radios completely off.
Even if we added a function to put the radio into standby at a specific battery level, the battery would continue to drain. This is especially true of the radios with colour screens.
If you need APRS and emergency communication, you should use two different radios
