OpenGD77

When I try to Read or Write to my 1701 I get the no comm port error. I am running Windows 10 with all the latest updates. In Device Manager after clicking on View Hidden Devices I do see a comm port labeled OPENGD77 (Com3), but I still am getting the error. I don't know what to try next. Any help would be appreciated.

Is your 1701 running OpenGD77 firmware?
If so, did you flash the firmware on this computer, using this programming cable?

I had this issue and I solved it stopping the comm port without opengd77 on it's name.

Just today i got similiar problems. I successfully treaded a new UV390 (5W, no plus) with the Firmware, no problems in DFU mode. Then i tried to write my CP to the HT and no way to make this happen. This setup works with all my other TYT's including another UV390. Comport shows up as OpenDG77 in device manager, CPS is seeing the comport and then failing to communicate with the HT. Had to kill the CPS via task manager since it was hanging.
To find a solution i tried the same with my older Laptop (also Win11) and everything was working as it should. I have absolutly no idea what the problem here could be.

So maybe try with a another computer if available...

easy to fix, just leave the radio on and connected to the PC and reinstall the OpenGD77 CPS and that will also reinstall the COM port driver and will fix the issue.

I recently acquired a GD77 running openGD77 with firmware 08.54.11 4/2020.
I cannot establish communication using cps R2025.03.23.01.
The GD77 com port appears in device manager but does not show in the com port selection drop down.
Any attempts to communicate result in unhandled exception error, object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Your firmware is too old.

Where can I get an older cps so I can at least establish communication.

We don't keep an archive of all the old copies of the CPS.

You could try archive.org to see if that site took a backup, at the time of the firmware version you are using.

However, your better option would simply be to update the firmware to the latest Beta.

The firmware update is not via the COM port, so it doesn't matter whether the COM port works or not.
