Garbled DMR transmissions

Post by KE0JHN » Tue Nov 05, 2024 5:44 am

I installed OpenGD77 on my MD-UV380, and found that through both Parrot testing, and by listening through Brandmeister Hoseline, my voice is garbled. With the official firmware, I had no audio problems. I used the latest CPS, I'm using MD9600-CSV(2571V5)-V26.45.bin as the doner file, and I've tried both the latest stable release, and the latest beta release. Garbled DMR transmissions with both firmware. FM works like a charm, though. FM squealch works better than it ever has!

Anyone have a suggestion on how to solve this problem?

I don't have a hotspot. I'm using a local repeater that worked with this radio with the factory firmware.

You may check DMR Micro settings in Audio Options, test with -9 dB or -6 dB.

This is not normal

I would try reloading the official firmware and re-test

Also try to check the frequency calibration when using the official firmware and OpenGD77

I looked in the Audio Options, but couldn't find DMR Micro settings.

There are no "DMR Micro" settings

There is a mic gain setting, but the problem you describe is usually caused by frequency calibration

BTW.
What is the callsign of the repeater where you get garbled audio?

It's the N0INX DMR repeater. I'm listening to a talkgroup right now, reception is 100% there. However, when I transmit DMR, it sounds like there's packet loss or something. I'd checked this out using Parrot 9990, and have listened to talkgroup 3119 over Hoseline, and when I transmit on there, I get the same garbled mess I get from the Parrot.

OK.

So its this repeater

https://brandmeister.network/?page=device&id=311929

I assume you are using full power and the problem is not related to power calibation ??

If you are using max power, I'd try adjusting the freq calibation a little to see if increasing or descreasing the freq has any effect

Just a thought, but do you have TA Tx turned on ?

That repeater seems to be a Motorola, and I don't think TA Tx is supported
