New Stable version [R20240908] Including source code
Re: New Stable version [R20240908] Including source code
Hello, I've got to ask to make sure I'm not misunderstanding and going to create a brick...
I have a RT-3S GPS
Under Announces: New Stable version [R20240908] Including source code
Under Firmware there is no file listed for RT-3S so do I use one of the 380 firmware? What about GPS?
Also "sources & tools" list a 380 and 1701.....Do I use that?
Thanks to all for any help!

Yes, you must use the MD-UV380 for the RT3S.kd4hoy wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 12:05 pmHello, I've got to ask to make sure I'm not misunderstanding and going to create a brick...

BTW, you almost can't brick it flashing the firmware, worst case, it just stays in bootloader mode.
Cheers.

Hello everyone.
I have been redirected here from the test version thread, where they discussed this "helicoptering and Silent DMR" issue.
Tried some of the things there, (hotspot config and some other stuff) and did not work.
What it DID work regarding "Silent DMR", was to set Options > Sound Options > Prompt to "Beep". (I usually have it on No Keys)
Moreover, by setting it up to "Silent" it made the problem WAY worse. So much so that not even PPTing or opening the squelch via SK2-hold would do nothing to turn on the sound.
It did nothing for the "helicoptering DMR" though. I still have the issue in which the first frame of the transmission gets repeated like "rRRRRRRR". PTTing or opening the squelch takes it out of that hiccup. I'd understand that the two issues have different causes.
Is there any test I can do?

Question for the devs
What is known about the "silent DMR" issue anyway?
I rummaged through the forum looking for conversations on this "silent DMR" issue. It's really bugging me as it is consistently ruining every single one of my QSOs because i keep missing transmissions.
I've been doing some tests and this is the info/questions i have:
Also, I am yet to reproduce the issue listening to my MMDVM using an SDR, and see if both go silent/helicoptering.
For the note: my hotspot is duplex with 2 timeslots
Regarding the second. It disproportionally affects transmissions from a specific fellow ham. When monitoring the anchored TG, other hams seem to be heard ok. The issue is less frequent. Also, this fellow ham is the one I talk to the most. So perhaps TXing makes the issue more likely?
Regarding the third, I don't know. I don't have other OpenGD77s.
Random ideas/observations:
Is there any test you'd want me to conduct? How could I help?

I've been doing some tests and this is the info/questions i have:
- Is the issue restricted to transmissions from MMDVM?
- Does the issue arise with specific callers only?
- Is it a DM1701/TYT issue or is it a general OpenGD77 issue?
- Was it present on the latest stable?

Random ideas/observations:
- When the issue "kicks in", restarting does NOT solve it. It keeps losing transmissions
- TXing seems to make the issue more likely (change of behavior based on temperature)
Is there any test you'd want me to conduct? How could I help?

Hi,
For me (TYT 390plus), the number of "silent DMRs" decreased significantly when (stable version from 15.12.2024) I turned off the "DMR CRC" option.
Best regards

Hello everybody
I’ve been fiddling around with the radio to try and find outwhat causes the “silent DMR” and “helicoptering” sound issues.
This is the TL;DR:
I’ve been fiddling around with the radio to try and find outwhat causes the “silent DMR” and “helicoptering” sound issues.
This is the TL;DR:
- Simplex transmissions do not have that problem. Setting your hotspot to simplex will fix the problem.
- The issue seems to be rooted in the way OpenGD77 handles TimeSlots, and there are some wacky glitches you can reliably reproduce.
