Garbled DMR transmissions
Re: Garbled DMR transmissions
I have seen this issue on our local MTR2000 repeater VK4RBA as well and we have not been able to figure out the issue. I will look at the frequency alignment as suggested. Only occurs on OpenGD77 firmware. I have 2 x MD9600, GD77 and RT3s.
Re: Garbled DMR transmissions
Good Morning Guys.
I recently purchased a Dm 1701 and have the same issue with communications between my 1701 and my Retetis RT3s, not even using a hotspot or repeater.
Using the RT3s on a repeater or Bluedv as a hotspot works fine with transmit and receive with no issues. I can also transmit to the DM1701 with no garble, But if I use the DM1701 either as a hotspot or to transmit to the RT3s directly, after 4 seconds, the audio becomes garbled.
I have tried everything suggested here to no avail, I am beginning to wonder if the radio has a fault of its own, I am hoping it is just something I missed as the RT3s has never skipped a beat with open GD77.
Also I'm using the Open GD77 VK code plug just for information.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers 73 VK5DOC Steve.

Possibly the radio has a fault.VK5DOC wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 12:33 amGood Morning Guys.

Not sure what you mean by "Open GD77 VK code plug"
Re: Garbled DMR transmissions
I'm thinking the same, As I still can not find a solution to it.
The code plug is from here https://vk2idl.com/index.php/opengd77-codeplug/ I use this on my Retevis and it works great.

Re: Garbled DMR transmissions
Hi all,
I also have the same problem.
If I try to use the DM-1701 and go DMR simplex to my RT-3S I get garbled audio in UHF HAM bands at all power levels.
RT-3S to DM-1701 is fine.
RT-3S can decode successfully all repeaters and other HTs and mobile DMR rigs.
DMO in VHF and other UHF frequencies like GMRS works good.
I don't have ready a spectrum analyzer, but I suspect something weird is being transmitted when operating in UHF HAM.
MMDVM hotspot hats can be worked fine with both radios.

Re: Garbled DMR transmissions
Hi all,
I think I have the same issue with my DM-1701A's. Everything works well except DMR around 430-435 Mhz with OpenGD77. VHF, < 420 Mhz, > 439 Mhz and FM are all okay. I'm using version 20250323054354 [ 1bd23ea D ].
I've tried different antennas, different timeslots, filters, mic gain, eco level, no TA, CRC is on. I installed the original firmware to make sure it isn't a hardware issue as these are new from AliExpress, so you never know. It didn't have this issue, though I must say after experiencing OpenGD77, the stock firmware sucks
It was clear the issue is transmitting, since going from stock to OpenGD77 worked fine. When receiving the garbled signal the stock firmware keeps dropping the call like it's getting out of sync or something.
Let me know if there is anything I can do to help debug.

Re: Garbled DMR transmissions
I can confirm this behavior. I uploaded the latest stable OpenGD77 version to an RT3S from 07/2024. I now have two RT3S devices—one from 2023 and a newer one from 2024.
On 430 MHz, when in DMR mode, transmitting from the older device to the newer one works fine. However, when I transmit from the newer device, the transmission becomes garbled after about 3 seconds when received by the older device. Both devices are running the same firmware and codeplug.
Transmitting in DMR mode works fine in both directions on 439 MHz.
When I enable the "Signal" menu option in the firmware, I observe that the signal from the older device to the newer one is stable. In the other direction, the signal fluctuates wildly.

Re: Garbled DMR transmissions
I have done a little more testing and found the same issue with firmwares R20231231, R20240630 and R20240908.
Could it be a different hardware version? The Firmware info screen shows:
TYT
CPU Sig: 0x0413
CPU Rev: 0x0009
CPU Pack: 0x0007
CPU Flash: 1024kb

Re: Garbled DMR transmissions
Hi.
sorry to bother you.
I recently purchased a baofeng MD1701A radio.
I see you have one.
any advice on installing the gd77?
I imagine it is the same as the MD1701 model, right?
Thanks for your time and help.
hola.
perdona que te moleste.
recientemenre he adquirido una radio baofeng MD1701A.
Veo que tu tienes una.
¿Algún consejo para la instalación del gd77?
Imagino que es igual que el modelo MD1701, ¿verdad?
Gracias por tu tiempo y ayuda.
