I just ran into the same issue with a white screen after installing the latest stable version for the uv-380. I used the latest CPS as well
UPDATE: I was told that it was a ribbon cable issue. I was doubtful since the radio worked before the firmware updates, none the less I opened the radio, reset cables and everything works jsut fine. I was puzzled how a radio sitting on a desk would work one minute and stop the next when all I changed was the firmware. I am starting to believe that there is a tiny "Neo" moving from the computer world to the real world in this radios using GD77 to travel in and out

When you plug in the cable to update the firmware there is a significant force applied to the PCB and things move slightly inside the radio. A connection that is only just working could easily be disturbed and stop working.
