OpenGD77

Hello,
I got an RD-5R second hand, installation of OGD77 went fine, thanks to all the devs.

The issue I have is that the radio cannot 'reach/activate'' the hotspot, error message: Timeout.
Two other radios Anytone 878 and DM1701 (OGD77) can activate and communicate through hotspot.
RD-5R can communicate via a DMR relais (Hytera RD625), outside the reach from where I'm located.

What I've checked with the RD-5R:

• Tried two different MMDVM duplex boards on two different RPis
  both running latest Pi-Star 4.2.3 with latest HS Hat fw 1.6.1
  no change with duplex/simplex config

• Both OGD77 releases showing same issue (R20240908 and Beta20250323)

• Frequency deviation seems not the issue, tested with TinySA and SDR

• Calibration seems to be fine (compared with a ham providing screenshots)

Any more hints to troubleshoot the issue?

Put your hotspot in Calibration mode, and check the BER using your RD5R.

Your RD-5R center frequency deviation is different than the 878 and 1701. If you have a SDR receiver, you can calibrate it. If you don’t have one you might have to calibrate your hotspot in the middle of all your radios.

Finally it was an issue with the calibration data.
After firmware installation and backup of calibration data the reference oscillator tuning was originally -55.
Changing it to -41 I was able to activate the mmdvm hotspot, with fine tuning to -37 I'm happy with very low BER.
Usually I try to avoid mess with calibration data, in this case with the second hand device I'm good.
