OpenGD77 DM-1701 won't load different codeplug
OpenGD77 DM-1701 won't load different codeplug
I installed all this last year and it worked well.
Now I want to give this DM-1701 to our local Repeater group's summer picnic for its fund-raising Raffle.
In the software, I load NEW and then a more generic codeplug for our groups DMR repeaters (and without my personal information).
Every time I attempt to write this more generic codeplug into memory over my personal codeplug in memory, it appears to be properly downloading both on the computer and on the DM-1701 screen.
But my personal codeplug continues to remain in the DM-1701 memory, even when I download it back to the computer.
Any thoughts?

Are you sure you are not first reading the old codeplug from the radio and then writing it backW7ML wrote: ↑Tue Jun 03, 2025 8:57 pmI installed all this last year and it worked well.

Try selecting File new in the CPS and simply write that to the radio to start with
Btw.
Make sure you only have one radio connected to your PC at the time. If you have multiple radios connected the CPS does not check for this and may be uploading to the other radio

Only one radio connected and, yes, I selected NEW and tried writing that to the radio and yet the radio still has my personal code plug
It is COM3, the only COM offered.

I do select the DM-1701. It is the second, bottom list.
Thank you
Thank you

Yes, the screen shows that it is downloading the codeplug and it does restart and I shut it off and on again just to be sure.
Re: OpenGD77 DM-1701 won't load different codeplug
Is there some sort of keypad "lock" on the DM-1701 that I may have inadvertently selected that is locking my personal codeplug into the DM-1701?
Re: OpenGD77 DM-1701 won't load different codeplug
I do not recall specifically, but back when I purchased this DM-1701 from AliExpress as an experiment to see how easy it was to update the firmware to OpenGD77, I may have installed my "personal" codeplug from my Radioddity RD-5R/Baofeng DM-5R assuming that it would work with just changing the selection in Radio Type. That is probably what I did.
Now when I select NEW and then "read" my codeplug from the DM-1701 into the OpenGD77 CPS software, I notice:
Zones are fine
Channels are fine, but then there are many listed afterwards with strange characters instead of English
TG Lists are all strange characters; and
Digital Contacts are all strange characters.
The Radio Type is back to RD-5R.
Edit Update: the DM-1701 operates perfectly with my personal code plug.

Re: OpenGD77 DM-1701 won't load different codeplug
Is an RD-5R code plug compatible with the DM-1701 with just a change of Radio Type?
