At last I removed the plastic lens on my 1701 but as it has borders in the case with the same width as the black border on the lens it's no idea to remove the border on the lens.

I've done some tests on my DM-1701 but I haven't not noticed such behavior.

My frequency counter is probably not sampling so fast but I also listened to the carrier in CW mode on my SDR and I couldn't hear
any change in the pitch when I press PTT.
