I believe mine came with a RGB panel too. All colors that I set on the CPS appear totally different on my radio.
I set the colors directly on the radio, going via options - theme options on the menu and rotating the knob until i got the ones I like. It takes longer, but gets the job done.

I was wondering the same thing. I know that even a small change like that in the firmware involves a lot of work.
If I could, I would open my radio and try to remove the sticker or paint arround the window, but I'm sure that it would be ruined in no time...
