Re: 10W UV390 PLUS SCREEN BRIGHTNESS

I don't think any of the developers has one of these radios, so a fix, even if possible, would be difficult. Can you confirm that the brightness is definitely better on the manufacturers firmware.

Re: new md9600 TDMA pulse on TX from speaker

If you are getting pulse breakthrough then there is a fault with the set. About the only thing you could try is reseating the ribbon cable between the front panel and the main body. That carries audio to and from the volume control so a bad ground could induce noise.

Re: MD-9600 Receive Audio, how to improve?

I have always thought the MD9600 audio was good. However everyone has their own preferences. As you say there is little than be done to change it anyway.

Re: MD-9600 Receive Audio, how to improve?

The only real way to improve the volume control response is to fit a log law potentiometer. That's what should have been fitted in the first place but the factory doesn't seem to have any! I can't remember the part number off hand but if you search the forum you should be able to find it. Colin G4EML

Re: “Timeout” when press PTT on my UV390plus

As EU1AEQ says your problem is that the repeater is not responding. There is actually power output when the red LED flashes but it is a very short pulse, which tries to 'wake up' the repeater. The radio repeats this a few times and if the repeater does not respond it then gives the timeout message. ...

Re: Date / Time Display missing?

I think the main problem with the RTC is that it relies on the tiny backup battery to keep it running while the radio is powered off. We already know that this battery is very likely to become discharged.

No special firmware is required.
Remote head support is included in the standard firmware.

Re: DMR SMS support?

Retevis doesn't write the firmware for its DMR radios. Most of the low cost Chinese radio companies use firmware written by the same third party company. This company is unknown but we suspect it is connected to the chip manufacturer or government. About the only Chinese company that seems to write ...

Re: MD9600 no RX/TX

V1 and V2 firmware are identical apart from the backlight control. So either should work.

Does the radio work on FM? If so then you are using the correct firmware version.

What happens when you try to transmit on DMR?

Re: RD-5R Power Calibration

It's probably accurate enough. Power measurements are difficult to do accurately and also not really very important so I wouldn't worry too much about them. It sounds like the minimum your radio can output is 0.28W and the slope is probably not flat below 1W . The firmware power settings below 1W ar...
