Re: BER and Duty Cycle

A properly implemented DMR decoder in a custom designed chip as used in the GD77 and other DMR radios is tolerant of quite large frequency errors, indeed this is a requirement to fully comply with the DMR specifications. Hotspots have always been excessively sensitive to fine tuning of the frequency...

Re: [Solved] Scanning Problem

At the moment it’s just

‘Auto scan’ becomes ‘Zone Skip’
‘Lone Worker’ becomes ‘All Skip’

Some of the other items (like Scan Lists) are redundant in openGD77 but there is probably no harm in leaving them there for now.

Re: Scanning Problem

We are doing many things in a different way to the official CPS. Therefore the functions of some of the codeplug items are different. Scanning is one of those differences. We are using the ‘auto scan’ flag as ‘zone scan skip this channel’ and the ‘lone worker’ flag as ‘all scan skip this channel’. T...

Re: Localistion support (foreign languages)

Scan settings have now changed to options menu. When Roger approves this change there will be three new strings added to all Language files. 'Scan Mode', 'Hold' and 'Pause'. I can see that maintaining these files will be time consuming for a while as we add new functions all the time. Translators wi...

Re: Scanning Problem

Your comment “(autoscan set for each channel)” might be significant. The auto scan tick box on the CPS has a different function in OpenGD77. It is used as a ‘skip channel’ flag. If this is set then the scan will skip over the channel and not stop. You can check and change the state of the flag by pr...

Re: DMR filtering by CC TS and TG

Roger, Leaving monitor mode active on dual timeslot after transmitting could cause a lot of confusion with people potentially swapping time slots without realising. I would have thought that if you press the PTT the timeslot should be locked and Monitor mode should be reset to single timeslot. Prett...

Re: backlight on when the radio receives an empty dmr signal

Hi Roger, Luckily I have a local repeater (not mine) that seems to be sending beacons every 15 seconds at the moment. So testing is easy. Most U.K. Motorola repeaters send beacons every minute. When the network was first set up most people were using Motorola or Hytera radios so roaming was quite he...

Re: backlight on when the radio receives an empty dmr signal

Did some testing of the backlight when receiving repeater beacons. The backlight is actually triggered at the end of the beacon. So what happens is the beacon starts, the green light comes on, the backlight remains off. (that's what I would expect to happen) The beacon ends, the green light goes out...
