Hi Roger,
Yes I did the SK1/SK2 reset on both radios.
Cheap RF devices probably vary greatly in performance between batches. They may even be using whatever transistor is cheapest at the time.
I think it is unlikely you will find a good compromise for the calibration in all radios.
Colin.

Re: contacts
That depends on exactly what you mean by contacts.
The radio will hold 1024 contacts to be used for making calls, such as talkgroups and friends private IDs.
It can also hold the entire world database of DMR IDs, used to display the call sign and name for an incoming call.

Re: Baofeng US DM-1701 Sale $69.99, free shipping
Yes, there are often multiple options for what you are buying, sometimes under the misleading title of 'Colour'. You need to double check exactly what you are ordering. The default setting is often the cheapest item which may well be just an accessory and not the item you thought. The actual buying ...

Re: opengd not have 62.5 tone
62.5Hz is not a standard tone.
The lowest tone in the standard list is 67.0Hz.

Re: Voltage Oddity
Have you done a power recalibration at any time? If you have then you may have set the UHF drive level too high in an attempt to get maximum output power.

Re: Voltage Oddity
Sounds like one of two things,
Your power supply can't provide enough current. It needs to be able to provide at least 10 Amps. The current on UHF is often higher than VHF.
RF is getting into the power supply and causing it to shut down. How close is your antenna?

Re: GPS slow to find location
That sounds normal for these radios. When the GPS starts up it always has to do a cold start. (Because there is no backup battery). A cold start requires the GPS to download the Orbit data from the satellites. This can take a long time if the signal is weak or fluctuating. Keeping the GPS steady can...

It may not be of much use to you but I have found a UK company that claims to have replacement screens.
