Hello from PU1JLA

Post by PU1JLA » Wed Sep 06, 2023 9:16 pm

Hello all!
I've been in the radio world since the late 90's, listening VHF/UHF and also operating CB. Licensed ham radio operator since 2011 and now entering DMR.
I'm really enjoying this new technology, specially because it makes so easy to talk with folks all over the world using no more than a HT and a hotspot.

73s to all!!

Welcome.

FYI.

I noticed you registered with 2 different email addresses. I approved the first registration attempt
We recently had to change to manual approval of accounts because of the high number of AI bots registering on the site.

Can you tell me which OpenGD77 radio(s) you have, if any ?

OK, got it!
That's because I set up an e-mail acct with my callsign and changed the previous one.
I bought a Baofeng DM-1701 and made my own hotspot with a Raspberry Pi Zero W and a MMDVM board. Since I don't have any DMR repeaters near me, the hotspot is the only way I have to access the network.
And by the way...my HT came from AliExpress already with OpenGD77 installed. It's working just fine and I already did a firmware update ( 2023.0904 ).
I really appreciate all the effort you put into it, thank you!

OK.

Thanks.

We noticed that AliExpress vendors seem to be supplying with the firmware pre-installed.

Can you remember which version / date was installed ? Often Chinese vendors take a snapshot of a verison when their first start selling and never update to newer versions of the firmware, even years later.

Thanks very much for remembering that.

It shows that the vendors do not update in a long time.

There will be many new features missing from that version

BTW. I've just uploaded a new CPS to fix a bug in the firmware loader

downloads/CPS/Latest/OpenGD77CPSInstall ... .07.01.exe
