DIfficulty with MCU XPresso IDE

Hi all,
when I originally imported the firmware into the IDE, I used the import from archive option as that was the only option which seemed to work. When I did this, most of the options on the Project menu are grayed out. I can clean/build all, but can't change the configuration to build firmware for DM1801 etc. I know someone posted here a while back about clicking some icon in the toolbar, but is there an equivalent menu option? Or, do I need to import the project in a different manner to properly populate the Projects menu?
