RD-5R brand new to DMR - need help

I downloaded the 3 firmware files
open RD-5R.SGL
open RD-5R_JA.SGl
and
open RD-5R2.SGL
What program do I use to load the firmware ?
For use in the US, which version should I load ? and what are the other 2 versions for ?
Also, I read that there is a voice file that needs to be loaded separately that contains voice prompts for each menu item, but I can't find where to get those files.
Any help is appreciated
Thanks
Bill

Where did you download those files
The normal method to load the firmware is using the CPS
Please see the FAQ section

I don't have the CPS.
I found a post that had a list of different revisions of the opengl77 project files
I downloaded it from there and it has a program called Update.exe
I will look at the FAQ on here and download the CPS
Is the CPS set to download the latest modified firmware for the RD-5R ?
From what I read, once installed the open firmware will allow me to press the "*" key and enter the talkgroup I want to talk on
That is the feature I want to have
Thanks
Bill

That information sounds really out of date or just completely wrong.
AFIK, We've never used a program called update.exe . I don't know if we ever used that. Perhaps 2+ years ago.
We used a separate firmware loader program called something like firmwareloader.exe, but that was superseded at least a year ago as the firmware loader was integrated into the CPS, and then about 6+ months ago, the whole process was improved so that the CPS directly downloads and installs the firmware.

I've updated the FAQ to indicate the best method to install is now the CPS
