Hello from Kentucky!

Howdy all, I'm ham and a software engineer and considering buying a GD77. I'm currently living in an apartment complex that has way too much QRM for traditional operations so I'm building a PiStar hotspot and need a DMR radio to use it. The idea of an open firmware that I can (someday) mod appeals to me so here I am.
Also, I'm happy to see firmware tools for various flavors of Linux!

I see you are from Ky, I was curious if you know much about DMR repeaters in Louisville area? I'm originally from Louisville, but moved to New Mexico 45 years ago, but my brother ( and folks ) still live there. He is also a ham with an old VHF handheld so I bought him a GD77 for Christmas. I'm going to load OpenGD77 on it before I send it to him and thought I'd build a codeplug with local Louisville and Kentuckianna region repeaters for the radio too.

Unfortunately, I am only aware of one DMR repeater in the Louisville area, and I think it's currently down: 443.000 +5MHz CC1 K4KTR (Actually managed by KK4CZ)
Most of the hams I know in the area with DMR radios use them with hotspots.
Repeater book lists this one in LaGrange, but as of yet I've not been able to verify it on DMR (it does work analog):
440.5250 +5 MHz CC3 151.4 / 151.4 LaGrange Oldham WF1RES OPEN FM DMR
If it's of any use to you:
There are over a dozen Fusion repeaters in the area, and at least 5 of them are hooked up to Wires X (both 2m and 70cm)
W4CN (147.180), KE4JVM (145.230) KK4CZ (443.575), KY4KY (146.700 internet is flakey on this one)/
The CQ Louisville Fusion/Wires room is cross-linked to DMR I can find out the id if it will help.

Wow, I didn't realize DMR coverage was so limited in Ky. I've lived in New Mexico for 45 years and we have 3 different DMR RF repeater systems here; One covers AZ, NM and a bit of TX, another covers CO and NM another links MT and NM, I guess we are spoiled.
My folks lived out in LaGrange area for almost 20 years before they moved back into Louisville.
