Greetings all. I'm a new ham, General class, passed the tests earlier this year.
I serve on the communications team for a large and active hurricane response team fielded by CHUMM (Cape Hatteras United Methodist Men). Yes, we do get some storms.
We are also hooked up with the Dare County EOC and we are blessed with a robust network of repeaters within range of HT radios just about wherever we need to go. You can find us on Brandmeister talk group 31377 (Outer Banks).
CHUMM bought a half dozen GD-77 radios and converted them to OpenGD-77 for backup when cell phones won't work after a storm.
Thanks for the forum. I registered with a nickname but mods are welcome to replace with my call if preferred.
