alleged receptions with strange IDs on hotspot mode

Post by DO3BOX » Tue Aug 11, 2020 6:43 pm

Hi..
I'm running my OpenGD77 as hotspot (using a X50 antenna) since a few days and found some strange entries in the MMDVM log:
1. receipts of invalid IDs like
- 5235051
M: 2020-08-07 04:22:00.702 DMR Slot 2, received RF voice header from 5235051 to TG 9512457
M: 2020-08-07 04:22:01.006 DMR Slot 2, RF voice transmission lost from 5235051 to TG 9512457, 0.0 seconds, BER: 0.0%
M: 2020-08-07 05:15:19.089 DMR Slot 2, received RF late entry from 5235051 to TG 9512457M: 2020-08-07 05:15:19.089 DMR Slot 2, received RF late entry from 5235051 to TG 9512457
M: 2020-08-07 05:32:13.634 DMR Slot 2, received RF end of voice transmission from 5235051 to TG 9512457, 0.4 seconds, BER: 5.9%
M: 2020-08-07 05:46:21.555 DMR Slot 2, RF voice transmission lost from 5235051 to TG 9512457, 0.1 seconds, BER: 11.3%

M: 2020-08-08 04:09:16.579 DMR Slot 2, received RF voice header from 6833326 to 1711625
...
After I set up the mmdvmhost to block invalid MMC now the Ids will be blocked but are still there, e.g.

3. alleged RF reception reports from stations, which shortly before were on the net on a subscribed group but did not broadcast on the frequency of my hotspot

The first could be misinterpreted interference. I'm not sure about the second, and the third is really strange. In another case there are several hours between the last reception (in this case via RF) and the alleged RF reception...

correct receiption:

uncorrect receiption. I didn't sent at that time:

M: 2020-08-10 23:59:19.393 DMR Slot 2, RF voice transmission lost from DO3BOX to TG 26223, 0.0 seconds, BER: 0.0%

Hi,

Did you have another DMR transceiver turned ON when doing these tests ?
I found that the MD-390 is sending some crazy frames when its GPS is ON, when it receive some transmission from another TRX..

Cheers.

I had my handheld on while the "RF user 0 rejected" occurs and heard nothing.
And I have used a MMDVM HS HAT before and never hat such strange log entries.

Update: The reception from OpenGD77 is apparently way better than from the MMDVM devices.
I could partly trace the signals back to sporadic overreaches of other repeaters/hotspots and filter them by changing the color code. I will continue to observe it and will report back if necessary.
In this context a question about the hotspot mode: is it possible to adjust the RX gain and squelch settings somewhere? These settings might have been useful here.

The RF hardware does not have any gain controls and DMR does not use squelch
