Hey Roger,
that would be a solution if it works that way.
Currently it is "Function + # = TG / PC"

Umm

Perhaps thats not idea.

The problem is that PTT lock and keypad lock are independent of each other, so there are 3 possible combinations (excluding neither type of lock being enabled)

Perhaps PTT lock but Keypad unlocked is not a feature that people would use.

i.e PTT Locked + keypad unlocked is a bit like Rx only.

That the PTT lock and the keyboard lock are independent of each other I think is not bad.
If the device eg in the breast pocket or something and you get it out, you do not send accidentally when you come to the PTT.
To come to other keys would not be so bad.

Proposal would be eg..
1.) You could move PTT lock into the menu, keyboard is not locked at the same time and it is again a key combination free.
2.) PTT lock and keys are locked together / at the same time

I tend to Option 1, but 2 would be ok too.
What do you usually do as well as the other users (1 or 2 or ??)

It's just an idea ...

I can understand PTT lock. I think its a very good idea.

I'm not sure why anyone would want to lock the keypad and not lock the PTT

How about keeping it simple just having one Lock.
Then have an option in the options menu to define the type of lock, Keypad only or Keypad and PTT.

Keypad only is useful so the radio can still be used without accidentally changing anything.

Now that we have the keypad handling changed, we can use something like long pressing Blue+STAR to unlock keypad and long press Blue+HASH to unlock PTT.
Or keep Blue+STAR for lock/unlock and change switching FM<->DMR to long press STAR?

That would avoid double usage of the same key sequence.

I like this idea. A user defining either KEYPAD or KEYPAD+PTT in a lock option, then you just turn one lock on/off. I can see use cases or both.

For me, having a dedicated PTT lock, independant from KEYPAD lock, as shortcuts, is necessary.

Example: you're scanning in VFO mode some out-band frequencies. You don't want to TXing there, but you need to be able to interact with the keypad.
Another one, you have your HT clipped on your belt, whatever listening to, but the risk is quite high to press the PTT key, with your balancing hard, backpack... It also apply if you have some (young or not) kids, grabbing your HT, and playing with buttons.

Cheers.

I just turned the radio off and on and it unlocked the keypad.
