RX beeps when radio is in RX CTCSS
RX beeps when radio is in RX CTCSS
I noticed that my radios give RX beeps on a channel with RX CTCSS enabled even if the incoming transmission is
without subtone or just qrm or noise.
Noticed the problems on:
RT3S version 20230509
MD9600 HW2 20230228
DM-1701 20230509
without subtone or just qrm or noise.

Re: RX beeps when radio is in RX CTCSS
Upgraded the MD-9660 to 20230423 , issue remains.
Re: RX beeps when radio is in RX CTCSS
I guess Rx been are enabled. Check your settings. Be sure that don't come from the transmission.
Re: RX beeps when radio is in RX CTCSS
I presume the radio should be quiet unless the correct RX subtone is present, now it isn't.
I tested by having radios with enabled RX CTCSS and the RX beeps enabled and transmitted from another radio with no subtone enabled.
I don't hear any audio but all three Opengd77 radios emitted beeps on start/stop of the carrier sent.
So the RX beeps seems to trigger on squelch even if RX CTCSS is enabled.
Re: RX beeps when radio is in RX CTCSS
I think you need to re-read the user manual about rx beeps, as it is related to carrier and/or talker, but not with squelch opening/closing.
Re: RX beeps when radio is in RX CTCSS
So, you have two choices: disabling the rx beeps, or edit the channel details and turn Ch Beep off.
Re: RX beeps when radio is in RX CTCSS
Ok, I see.
But I still think it's illogical to sound beeps when you have tone squelch on unless the traffic have correct subtone.
Annoying when you have channels with QRM pulses ongoing and you hope that they should be quiet until real traffic is received with subtone.

Re: RX beeps when radio is in RX CTCSS
Again, it's a matter of carrier, audio has nothing to do here.
The main goal is to help blind Hams to know when something happens on the QRG.
So, if this annoys you, disable it, simple.
