The speaker cable is quite short, but I've not had any problem with the connections breaking
I spoke to Chris this afternoon, and I think he has repaired his GD-77 before and opened it, because I think he said it had somehow got water inside it (perhaps)
The other problem I see frequently is the ribbon cable from the main PCB to the display / keypad PCB, is often not inserted fully or perhaps not clipped in completely and come loose. But this is easy to fix
