Battery voltage percentage fluctuation
Re: Battery voltage percentage fluctuation
I have noticed that my GD77 battery voltage appears at 84% in VFO and 93% in Hotspot ?
Re: Battery voltage percentage fluctuation
Interesting
Re: Battery voltage percentage fluctuation
Probably some colleagues have converted chargers for a lower voltage and others do not. The charger originally 8.58V and this is too much. I also converted the charger to 8.36V and therefore shows less% V

Re: Battery voltage percentage fluctuation
In the latest version, I changed it so that rather than 8.3V = 100% , now 8.2V = 100%
My radio now normally displays 100% when in the charger, but if I transmit the value will reduce as the battery voltage decreases

Roger.
Personally, I don't mind. I know my charger is not fully charging and I am aware of it. And then, he shows me less% V and I agree with that.
Lower charging voltage - longer battery life

Re: Battery voltage percentage fluctuation
I think 8.2V is a reasonable compromise.
I know because of some problems with the audio amplifier oscillating, people have modified their charger so that the voltage does not exceed 8V, but this will reduce the battery capacity by at least 10%, so I am not going to change the 100% value to 7.9V as it would not be the correct representation of the capacity

I agree Roger with you fully ...
Re: Battery voltage percentage fluctuation
BTW. I changed the averaging period, from 1 minute to 2 minutes.
This will mean if you transmit on high power for about 2 minutes then note the battery percentage, then turn the radio off and on again, the percentage will not be the same as initially it will be the direct reading of a few samples, not the 2 minute average.
