[Solved. Programming cable not connected correctly] CPS cannot connect to GD-77 for initial load of opengd77

Having had very good success putting opengd77 on a pair of RD-5R's I own using a Windows 11 laptop, I acquired a new GD-77 to do the same. Unfortunately, CPS reports it "can't connect to the GD-77" when I try to do the initial load of opengd77 with the radio in firmware update mode. Feel like I'm missing something obvious but am not sure what. Checking the factory firmware version it arrived with, I see its 4.3.8. Is there any reason to believe I need to downgrade it to an older factory firmware version for the opengd77 install to work? The Device Manager reports the radio as USB device id VID_0000&PID_0002\7&7297ae1&0&1 .

Belay my comment about taking my GD-77 back to an earlier factory firmware version. Thinking that through, I realized that was going to have no impact on what sort of usb device it looked like in boot loader mode.

Nevertheless, my problem still stands as far as getting OpenGD77 CPS to connect to the radio for the firmware load. The radio does not show up as a HID-type device, but as an unknown USB device. Zadig also reports it's device id to be VID_0000/PID_0002 -- can't say I know what the correct id ought to be, but it's an odd-looking value compared to ones I usually see.

[SOLVED]

Well, I'm sorry to have troubled you all but the problem was embarrassingly simple. The programming cable was not seated quite right (despite multiple attempts to make sure it was). After the n-teenth time of checking to make sure it was, CPS finally succeeded its firmware load.

Hmmm, I'm in exactly the same position, I think I'll try checking the cable and uploading the Open GD-77 firmware.
