Hello everyone.
I hope you're all doing well.
I wanted to share what happened to me when updating the dm-1801A. I updated the firmware, something I've done several times on various devices without any issues. However, this time, it wouldn't turn on afterwards. I turned it off after the update, but it wouldn't power on again, and I couldn't even enter flash mode.
I disassembled it, performed a reset from the motherboard by bridging the reset pin with ground, and after that, the computer was able to enter flash mode. I reinstalled the firmware from March 2023, and everything is working fine now.
Greetings

Hi

Have you tried to pull the battery, power it off, insert the battery back, power it on with SK2 held down ?
That most of the time solve the problem.

Pulling the reset pin is quite useless, as nothing can survive a battery removal, (when power switch is on) as MCU point of view.

Cheers.

Thanks for your answer.
I updated it again but updating CPS and it worked fine. I had previously done it with an old version.
Thanks for your answer.

Hello again.
On the second day of using it, the same thing happened again. It turns off completely and there is no way to turn it on, not even taking out the battery.
If it only happened to me, I assume there is a problem between the firmware and my 1801A. If no one tried it on another 1801A, it's the firmware.
Thank you anyway
I'll stick with an old version.
Greetings

But, if you pull the battery few seconds, then enter in the bootloader mode (SK1+SK2 + power on), it works (no screen, green led on), right ?

Also, send me an email. I would like to get this problem sorted out.

Cheers.

For the record, I just flashed the latest stable and beta DM1801A firmwares on my DM1801 (not A), and it's fine.
The only difference is the DM1801A is missing Left/Right keys.

Cheers.

No, once I restart the radio it no longer turns on and I can't enter bootloader mode either, it doesn't turn on anything.
After disassembling the device and resetting it with the pin on the main board, there I can enter bootloader mode.

Oh, I'm sending you an email anyway.

Greetings Daniel

firmware/gd77.zip doesn't appear to have any firmware, only *.gla files.

Where do I start?
Thanks,

Where is the .bin file?

Post by K3TUF » Tue Jul 09, 2024 12:26 pm

Installed the GD77 CPS executable
Loaded the radioddity firmware file 4.3.6
Start to load firmware.
I cannot find a bin file for firmware update.
Thanks for assistance.
