The OpenGD77CPS has not been able to install the official firmware for a long time, we don't have a way of knowing the encryption key in arbitary versions of the official firmware.

The OpenGD77CPS will only install the OpenGD77 firmware.

I think it will still install the old versions, and also the new .bin version, but it will not install the official firmware.

The reason you need the official firmware is only for the OpenGD77CPS to merge it with the OpenGD77 firmware, so that the combined firmware which is then uploaded to the radio has the AMBE codec.

You only need to select the Official firmware using the button to select version 4.3.6 you don't upload it

FYI.
Some technical information, the bootloader in the GD77 can't merge one firmware on top of another, even time a firmware is uploaded the entire ROM space for the firmware application is completely cleared.

Hence its not possible to install the Official firmware and then get the CPS to only upload the OpenGD77 sections, as the bootloader does not have the functionality for this.

The blind hams are very concerned that may things that were recently added to their version that the blindgd77 group has done won’t make it into OpenGD77.

Also many are saying the pop up deal you have to click on this site isn’t acceptable because screen readers and thus the cookies deal renders the site useless to blind hams.

Can some of us we can see get and answer to this so we know what to tell our blind hams friends?

Hopefully we don’t close things off for our blind hams friends!

If somebody gets a chance, can we get a quick step by step guide to installing the new firmware please?
Do we use the bin file thats on the server dated 29th May? or should we compile the bin from the source code supplied?
I am assuming supplied files for compiling need to be in the same directory as the sGL file?
sorry but i am confused dot com LOL

download the new cps, install it, download the GD-77_V4.3.6.sgl, the new OpenGD77.bin, open cps, connect radio pressing bottom two left keys and turn radio on.
in cps select extras, firmware loader, select firmware v4.3.6, open, select file and update, opengd77.bin, open
firmware will then be updated
simples.....

It looks to be a problem on your side, I just downloaded a firmware as a test (and I bet other people would have also reported):
