I have the experimental RD-5R firmware up and running on my Baofeng DM-5R.

I has operated in normal HT mode, and I now have it setup on Hotspot mode.

Is there room between the "CC:1" and "1W" for the hotspot frequency display? There is blank space there right now.

The only problem I have had is the same as experienced with the GD-77 and DM-1801 when you try and use the radio mounted antenna instead of a remote antenna. The Baofeng USB cable is just as unshielded...

Just completed a QSO with AF6MQ, and he's about to load his RD-5R radio with OpenGD77 too.

Hi Mark.

I've not had chance to try it as a hotspot

The radio hardware is quite primitive, only one PA section for both VHF and UHF, hence spurious emissions are much higher

PS. I was on a local TG but I've put one of my radios back onto 98977

I fixed the problem with the squelch on the VFO screen, erasing the top of the Rx Freq display

I also made a small improvement to the spacing of the menu's.

Just installed it on an old master reset bricked RD-5R. Brought It back to life! Transmitted on my hotspot and it only gave me a 1.3 BER at 441mhz. I got a DM-5R a few weeks ago and it has problems at 441mhz but not at 448mhz. I corrected it with the RX OFFSET on MMDVM, but it added a little BER from other radios. Will get a freq counter on it and see what is up ( I have to find it first).
