I'm checking the correct pinout for this cable, the default is RS232, the truth is that the UV-5R is not compatible, the TXD pin is inverted, tomorrow I will build a cable for testing.
Its common for these sorts of radio modules to update via serial / rs232, so its possible that this radio is now the same.
Do you have an official firmware update file for this radio?

It will be impossible to support this new type of DM1801 because the manufacturer of the RF module does not release data sheets etc
No, I only have the CPS that was sent by the Chinese to my friend PU7FSE, no firmware file

The CPS would be the photo sent by the Chinese, its directory is named CPS_DM1801_A6_V001.02_666, note that it has an A6, relating to the built-in processor, only the cable remains to at least use it with the original firmware, without the resources from OPENGD77, tomorrow I'll see this cable thing.

If Baofeng have managed to convert their old firmware to completely run inside this module, then its unlikely they will be releasing any updates

Because these radio manufacturers do not publish any technical information about how to load firmware, this always has to be done by reverse engineering how the official firmware update works.

Without any official firmware update program etc, its another reason this radio could not be supported.

AFIK. TYT still manufactures the MD-760, which is the hardware used for the GD-77, so the RD-5R and MD-760 are currently the only radio that can be bought new that are compatible.

In the future it may be possible to support some older TYT radios, like the UV-380 and the MD-2017, but unfortunatly becuase the manufacturers are not interested in the open firmware, its unlikely any of the newer radios will ever be supported :-(

BTW.
Its not just the Chinese companies who will not supply information about their radios. I know some people are trying to load firmware onto a Yaesu HT, but Yaesu don't release any information either :-(

Hi,

About the supported model/SN, the silkscreen reports:

BF-1801--RF-V2.4
2018-07-23

and S/N starts with:

18DM1801

Cheers.

Can you share the CPS, so I can at least try to make some use of my unit?

Thanks

Hello Miranildo,

This is Olivia with Baofeng support.

Please kindly notice that the DM-1801 is customized by other distributors, and we just sell the standard models. For this reason, the custom model needs dedicated programming software, and the dedicated software is unavailable.

We hope to get your understanding that if we provide you with incorrect programming software, this may cause problems on your radios, such as dead and garbled words. At the same time, the warranty service has been authorized to the dealer. Therefore, we suggest you reach out to your seller for to enjoy their warranty service.

Feel free to let me know if you have more questions. Thank you very much!

Regards,
Olivia

I can, but the cable that comes with it doesn't work.

I confirm that it has swapped TXD and RXD... What a mess!

CPS_DM1801_A6_V001.02_666
I connected it with the cable that was included by cutting off the usb plug and connected it to usb-ttl
black -gnd
blue -tx
brown -rx
everything works and reads
great news, I was already preparing a ttl to rs232 converter to do this, I was going to take advantage of an 8x1 cable that I have here, if possible share this feat with a photo.
