OK I have a possible explanation and not sure how to fix it...

If I switch the VFO to punch in a frequency it defaults the TX and rx ctcss tone to 110.3. (Im not looking at the radio so the ".3 could be .8) So the default ctcss on this radio is 110.3 and not "none". Is it possible that's making the satellite ctcss 110.3 PL on the receive? Also how would I set the default ctcss to NONE on every channel unless you set a pl tone?

Well I heard people this last ISS pass on the vertical antenna so I suppose it's working and I'll just have to keep messing with it.
We shall see! That means my handheld Arrow antenna should do even better...I tried quite a few different satellite passes the last 3 days before I asked this question and heard nothing not sure why all of a sudden it started working but I'll take it!

The antenna is the issue.
You need to have some Az/El control (hand/motors), and use a directionnal antenna to expect to be heard by a satellite.
Yep you're right Vertical antennas don't work...🤔🤣

Needless to say it's working now. I did reload my code plug so maybe that fixed something. Thanks for the help F1RMB!
