TYT MD-UV390 Installation Issue
TYT MD-UV390 Installation Issue
I have a UV-390, a Windows 11 computer and I am experiencing an issue with the DFU driver.
I have installed the STM DFU (version 3.0.6) and under Windows Device Manager, I am not seeing “STM device in DFU mode” in the “usb controllers” tab. However, in the “usb devices” tab, I do see “Digital Radio in USB mode”.
In the OpenGD77 CPS, I was only able select the firmware update file (OpenMDUV380.bin) after changing the file type to “legacy firmware files”
I had no issues with selecting the donor file (MD9600-CSV(2571V5)-V26.45.bin).
When I tried to load the OpenGD77 firmware into the radio, the CPS gave me the error “Radio not connected or not in DFU mode”
Currently installed on the radio, the firmware version is S019.005 and CP version is V01.30
Can anyone help?
Thank you.

Re: TYT MD-UV390 Installation Issue
The problem is that STM have 2 completely different DFU drivers for their MCU's
All OS's before Windows 11 seem to load the older / correct drivers, for Windows 11 it installs the new / incompatibe driver
These are the drivers which are compatible.
downloads/drivers/Dfuse_3.0.6_drivers.zip
You can also get the drivers by finding a firmware update package from TYT or Retevis for the radio, however its not easy to find these firmware update packages on either TYT or Retevises websites
BTW.
IMO STM made a big mistake by changing the driver and not retaining legacy functionality, so all previous device loaders, not just ours, don't work on Windows 11.

Thank you VK3KYY! I'm glad I asked the question here otherwise I don't know how long it would have taken me to figure out the problem is with the Windows operating system.
I have a laptop with Windows 10 and I followed the same steps. The installation went smoothly

Normally Windows 10 is OK unless MS have recently changed what files they server for the VID/PID values the STM USB DFU device
Re: TYT MD-UV390 Installation Issue
I am having a problem with the TYT CPS installation software. I did read the information about the USB driver issues and installed that driver. However, I am still getting the CPS program not loading. I get " cannot establish COM, Error 0 "error message. Any ideas, I want to use the MD-UV380 as with Open GD77
Thanks,

Did you watch the UV380 or MD2017 installation videos I posted to YouTube?n8kdq wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 7:51 pmI am having a problem with the TYT CPS installation software.
