New Beta 2024 06 30

Post by VK3KYY » Sun Jun 30, 2024 9:53 am

A new Beta is now available

See

downloads/MDUV380_DM1701/Firmware/d2dbc ... d485483a33

downloads/MDUV380_DM1701/Firmware/Latest

This version fixes the bugs in the previous Beta release but it no longer has the SMS passthrough functionality in Hotspot mode, becuase this was causing problems for normal operation

Thanks to Daniel F1RMB for removing the manfunctioning additions and hence fixing the firmware, and to the various people who tested this version so that it could be published to the forum, including IK0NWG and DJ0HF

Hopefully in the hotspot mode SMS passthough functionality may eventually be able to be incorporated again, but at the moment I am trying to get the firmware as stable as possible, so that a Stable release can be produced, so that the latest source code can be released.

В режиме работы Hotspot на передачу не выдает больше 2wats.
При первом выходе на передачу выдает 10 wats, но при последующих не более 2 wats.

В верхней части экрана постоянный индикатор TS1, хотя на самом деле в канале установлен TS2

You used TS manual override

Hi guys.

I managed to install an u.blox M8N into the DM-1701. It works basically, but when I look at the GPS menu the radio freezes with this release. It worth mentioning that I didn't try older beta versions yet, only this. The 20231231 stable version works properly. Maybe the GPS module sends receives unprocessable messages or causes some buffer overflows at some point. Another interesting thing is that some settings were cleared after I installed the GPS, like the language and brightness, but the channel memory, contacts, etc remained. The electric connections are fine I think, because everything else works.

When freezing, the radio can't be turned off with the knob. Usually it happens when there are satellites found. When entering in the GPS menu, satellites are shown for a moment and then they disappear and the radio freezes. It won't happen when the GPS is set to OFF. Sometimes freeze happened when I just scrolled in the menu.

Here are example NMEA messages from the module:

Code: Select all

$GNGLL,,,,,085211.00,V,N*5B
$GNRMC,085212.00,V,,,,,,,100724,,,N*6F
$GNVTG,,,,,,,,,N*2E
$GNGGA,085212.00,,,,,0,00,99.99,,,,,,*74
$GNGSA,A,1,,,,,,,,,,,,,99.99,99.99,99.99*2E
$GPGSV,3,1,11,02,11,272,,08,57,299,,10,75,113,,15,04,028,*7C
$GPGSV,3,2,11,16,29,204,,18,10,079,,21,27,275,,23,45,055,*72
$GPGSV,3,3,11,26,01,184,,27,81,182,,32,18,138,*44
$GLGSV,1,1,00*65
Can you please check what could cause this issue? I couldn't find source code for this release to debug.
Thank you

Ensure your UBlox module doesn't spit UBX messages once you got a fix.

retevis rt3s and baofeng dm-1701 using 6/30 firmware initially sound fine, but rapidly degrade in quality when talking directly to each other. Each is fine through my zumspot to TGs. When I use either one as host with rasberry pi wpsd and the other as client, the sound is unusable. So, I cannot use my rt3s connected to a rasberry pi as host and df-1701 as client. I can use rt3s to zumspot and dm-1701 to zumspot.

The problems with the Hotspot mode on the kalkie is a topic already widely discussed in the forum. We can look in the appropriate section before making repeated queries...
