No Audio and lots 'o frustration...
Re: No Audio and lots 'o frustration...
Most repeaters require that you transmit a CTCSS tone.
However not all repeaters which require a tone to access them, also transmit a tone themselves
Unless the repeater is multimode, e.g. FM and DStar etc, there is generally no need to use a Rx tone in your codeplug.

Yea, I thought I needed the freq in the Tx tone. I'm at work so I don't have it in front of me, but I thought I left the Rx blank to test.VK3KYY wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 8:24 pmMost repeaters require that you transmit a CTCSS tone.

Re: No Audio and lots 'o frustration...
Still nothing. Can open the repeater (with the 390) that is online via repeaterbook, no voice transmitted or heard on radio A. When I use radio A and tx to the repeater I can hear it open on the 390, but no voice from radio A is heard.
Simplex radio A to uv390 back and forth can tx and rx voice on the 390, everything sounds great.
I'm at a loss on what to do.
*edit*
Can my crappy antenna's have anything to do with it? I'm using a Baofeng uv82 with a 771 whip and don't have issues hitting things locally I want to. I just went into the RSSI on the uv390 and it is bouncing between -99 to -123. Is this my problem?

Re: No Audio and lots 'o frustration...
Wait a second, are you saying the problem is you try the repeater, but can not hear yourself on another radio? How far the other radio is away from the one transmitting? Can you try request a radio check? Try to make a real contact.K2ire wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2024 12:47 pmStill nothing. Listen to yourself with another radio very close to the one transmitting won't work because it will be de-sensitize. the RF from the transmitting radio is flooded the receiver of the other radio.
Re: No Audio and lots 'o frustration...
Simplex I can have the two radios right beside one another and hear fine on both. Trying the repeater, I put the Baofeng in the other room turned all the way up and was using the TYT 30 or so feet away, we have an open'ish concept downstairs. I could hear the repeater open on the Baofeng but that was it. The reverse produces no voice on the 390. I'm likely making this more confusing than it needs to be.KA1CM wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2024 12:58 pmWait a second, are you saying the problem is you try the repeater, but can not hear yourself on another radio? Re: No Audio and lots 'o frustration...
On simplex is fine, because both radios are on the same frequency. In the case of repeater, the radio transmitting 0.6MHZ away from the one receiving. and they are feets away from each others. The transmitting radio will flood the room with RF, and the receiving radio will hear nothing (except the transmitting radio, if it is tune to the transmitting frequency).K2ire wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2024 1:05 pm

I think you are hitting the repeater fine, try to request a radio check, or calling for a real qso.
Re: No Audio and lots 'o frustration...
Ok I understand about the rf, ever considered it. I'll try to get a good old fashioned qso.
Regarding DMR this is my local repeater, does this mean it's offline?
