Hi All,
I have a Retevis RT3 (UHF Only Version). I have been able to communicate with the radio using the original CPS so I know that the radio and USB cable/drivers work for codeplug updates. Today, I tried to load OpenGD77, which I have done before successfully. However, on this occasion the radio entered Firmware Update Mode with the flashing LED and the CPS ticker ran to the end and said the update had been successful. Disappointingly, the radio is still in update mode with the flashing LED. Nothing I do, and however many times I run the installation the radio stays in update mode. Does anyone have any ideas what went wrong and whether I can recover the situation? Many thanks.

The "Retevis RT3 UHF Only Version" does not support OpenGD77.GM4NSZ wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2024 8:13 pmHi All,

Re: RT3 Stuck in Firmware Update Mode
That's correct, the single band radios are not supported by OpenGD77. These older radios used the HRC5000 DMR chip and a different RF lineup. Whilst we managed to get FM working we did not have any success with DMR and it got to the point where it was not worth spending any more time on them.
You should be able to reload the manufacturers firmware using their firmware loader.

Many thanks for the replies - so now I know . I have managed to load the radio with Firmware called MD380 Tools which is based on the OEM firmware but with a more 'ham friendly' interface. I don't think is as stable as it stops doing things every so often, like not dimming the light or not allowing button input. But it has the radio working again - hurraah!
