The firmware has no control over the GPS acquisition time, its mainly dependant upon the current GPS satellite constellation position, and weather e.g. cloud cover and also position of the radio

The internal GPS in the RT3S is well documented to be very insensitive hence why people have to modify them to fit a better antenna
Thanks for your response, Roger.

I'm going to have a look to that information about the RT3S's GPS and maybe i will try to modify it...

I modified my RT3S and the GPS is improved a lot, but its still not as a good as a cheap mobile phone etc
The modification to fit the antenna in the top of the radio, requires a lot of plastic be removed using a grinding tool and I also had to grind a some of the PCB of the new antenna to make it smaller.

Hi,

We cannot compare with cellphones, as they are using AGPS, which improves a lot the position fix time.

For sure, the default GPS antenna on RT3S is badly located, in the same plan of the screen/keyboard.

Sometimes in the future I hope that I have enough confidence to open the latest RT3S that I bought and which seems to have much better GPS and compare it to my older radio.

How to enable automatic screen backlight in Retevis RT3S in this software? I want it to work like on the original software. It lit up when receiving and turned off when there was no answer. My screen is on all the time.

hi all, no matter what I do I cannot make the retevis RT3S to work in Windows 11. I forgot how many times I installed and uninstalled the drivers, either from Retevis or STM directly. The device either shows up as "radio in USB mode" or "DFU mode" but in either case no COM port is listed.

I then created a Windows 8.1 and 10 VMs and I was able to get Retevis CPS working but when I try the OpenGD77 CPS I get an error when uploading the files for FW update. I can't also backup the radio as (again) no COM port is shown (on the VM, on OpenGD CPS).

I'm almost giving up on the RT3s.

any new radio that is supported in Windows11 and Open GD?

The Windows 10 drivers from downloads/drivers/Dfuse_3.0.6_drivers.zip should work on Windows 11
At least they do on my Windows 11.

The DFU driver is used for firmware operations when the radio is in DFU mode ( SK1+PTT & Power on)
For other CPS operations is a USB serial driver that is included in the CPS install used.
