Hi all,

the Retevis CPS definitely was not working on Win11. I was able to (finally) program the radio but its very confusing. The Open GD77 CPS doesn't mention anywhere that is connected to the radio. I wasn't seeing any com ports thus I assumed it wasn't connected.

I just made a last attempt of installing the FW. I uploaded the donor file and then the RT3S OpenGD77 FW and it just started doing the FW upgrade automatically.... I wasn't expecting as I though the CPS wasn't detecting the radio. I didn't tried these steps "blindfolded" as I assumed the radio was not detectable by the CPS.

we should have some info on the CPS that would tell the user that it is "seeing" the radio

Hi,

Did you get the radio into DFU mode for the firmware update?
Turn it off and press the PTT and the button right above it and turn the radio on.
The LED on top should start flashing red and green.
After that CPS should be able to do the firmware update.
I hope this helps.

In the original firmware I can listen to 2 recorded channels at the same time. But in opengd77 I can only listen to one recorded channel at the same time. Is there a 2 channel listening mode. Or is it not possible? The device is Tyt md-390.

One receiver chip in the MD-390 = one channel
Create a zone with your two preferred channels and activate scan.

All devices that can use OpenGD77 has only a single receiver, even the more fancy Anytone 868/878 radios only have a single receiver.

The exception is the GD-88, which is a real dual receiver handheld.

I was watching the install video - just curious, why does the flash backup step around 10:57 occur AFTER having flashed the OpenGD77 firmware to the radio? Should the flash backup occur prior to upgrading?

The FLASH contains more stuff than the codeplug, like fonts (CN/EN), etc.
