sure, it's the different GPS unit !
CPU mentioned to differentiate the GPS performance between my 'new' and 'old' RT3S
Coldstart under moving conditions is still tricky, for that the radio needs a backup feed to the GPS.
Tried my Anytone 878UV+ from office today, just as bad as the older RT3S.
Interesting.

Hello
reading the comments here I was tempted to put the GPS module in my RT3s, I've already ordered one and I'm waiting for it to arrive, my question is, I noticed in the photos that part of the radio board was cut to accommodate the GPS module, can you confirm this information and what is the position of this cut, thanks for the tips!!! 73

Hi Friend
Basically the cut is in the part where the factory GPS antenna is placed.

You don't have to pick at the case - the board is placed to the right of the speaker. Unfortunately, the revision in the radio station without GPS did not fully work. The GPS board works when connected to a computer via UART, there is no connection with satellites at high speed.

Just a FYI - my new RT-3S GPS has the TYT CPU and was able to get a fix indoors on the first floor of my two story house. It seems to work as well as my cellphone's GPS?

Today I made the change following your instructions, it worked immediately with a noticeable difference compared to the standard antenna, now you just need to bring it closer to a window even at home to pick up the satellites. Much quicker and more stable fix, thank you so much for this solution!

 Wow, that's amazing!
I was feeling kinda stupid spending the extra for the GPS model. I'll probably do the mod to mine in a couple months after I figure out the APRS functionality (or when that functionality is fully working?)
