‼️‼️New manual

Hi everyone, EA5JOP and me (EA5JOQ) have written a comprehensive manual in both English and Spanish, step by step, covering the entire process for performing the GPS mod. Based on ''CU7AAZ GPS mod 2''.

https://ea5joq.es/files/rt3s_gps_mod.pdf
https://ea5jop.es/files/rt3s_gps_mod.pdf

If there's anything wrong, you can point it out, and I'll change it. Moreover, the PDF will be updated if anyone encounters any other issues.

Looking forward your gps update.
But to be honest once indeed the gps sats are detected it works fine. At least that is my experience.
Regarding the indoor situation, that is many times not easy, for this I use a gps amplifier cost about 10 euros(alie express)
works perfect for all my devices with gps.

Well anyway,
Have a nice weekend.

I noticed GPS works indoors on my RT-3S and gets a lock quickly when I use the stock antenna, but it never gets a lock indoors when I use my 2m/70cm Signal Stick antenna from Signal Stuff. I didn't think the VHF/UHF antenna would impact GPS reception? Anyone have any ideas? :?

The Signal Stick antenna is better at picking up repeaters in the area. Opened up a few more repeaters I'd never heard with the stock antenna.

It should not unless there is some interference that is emitted via the signal stick and affects the GPS reception, the GPS receiver has its own antenna inside the radio.
Very unlikely.

I, like several other people, opened their UV380/RT3S and relocated the GPS antenna and there was definitely no signal connection to the main PCB which has the main RF antenna on it.

The link is corrupted. Are there any changes in the mod 2 file?

Hello,
I also did this project and it improved the GPS. I had a hard time removing the plastic, it's a precision job.

I never received one BeiDou sat here.

Cheers.

Is it something in the NMEA output on the radio that indicates which type of satellite it is?

I had some ideas to connect a laptop when I test and compare the satellite performance on the radios?

I have no coverage inside my apartment so I can't test there now but I plan to buy a GPS L signal distribution from SV1AFN, then I could hookup an inside antenna.
I have one outside antenna now for my Thunderbolt GPSDO which I need to split to several receiver anyway.
Took some time for me to test the active splitter https://www.sv1afn.com/en/gnss-gps/-7.html that I bought last year.
I still have my old GPS mushroom antenna outside that I guess only support the original L1 frequency ( 1575.42 MHz )
But it worked fine to radiate the amplified signal to a little hotspot SMA antenna.

Sorry for offtop.
1. Maybe add support gnss in rt3s version «without gps»?
2. If used none Chinese module, for example ublox max-m8q or max-m10s?
