DMR APRS

Post by MW0KJN » Fri Mar 31, 2023 3:56 pm

Hi all, apologies if this has been asked before, I cannot find a reference to it on the forum, or in the UserGuide.

Everything is working well on my RT-3S except DMR APRS.

I have a Chinese clone MMDVM hotspot, and also a Yaesu FT-2D.

When the hotspot is in YSF mode, and I use the FT2D, my position via Digital APRS is displayed with no problems on aprs.fi.

When trying this using the DMR radio, it doesn't seem to work. Whilst in Pi-star, if i check the dashboard I can see my call sign, with GPS next to it, but clicking it against the DMR transmissions, takes me to APRS.FI but with no results. As above, works fine on YSF.

I have made sure my Retevis has a good GPS lock, showing the correct coordinates and GPS in bold before transmitting.

Should this feature work?

Cheers and beers

Kev MW0KJN.

I initially had problems getting the position to display on APRS.fi

Check your BM SelfCare settings. I'm sure there were many posts about this when the DMR APRS feature was added.

I have tried TA on APRS, and Both, still nothing being sent for the channel I am using

One change I have made this morning, is changed the BM Selfcare to Motorola, rather than Chinese Radio.

Im in the house at the moment with no GPS lock so I cant test it.

Got it working.

Needed to select "Motorola" in the radio type!

I think "Chinese radio" also works

I have my ETSI on my devices in BM Selfcare and TA APRS works just fine with that too from a RT3S.
Tested via my MMDVM Hotspot https://aprs.fi/#!call=a%2FSA0BUX-7

I double checked and my BM SelfCare and the radio Brand is set to ETSI and In-Call GPS is turned on
