About UV380 replacement flash memory
Hey guys, I'm Liu from China, new to this forum. The problem is this, the built-in flash memory of uv380 has a capacity of 16Mb. I wonder if it can be replaced with a large-capacity flash memory with a capacity of 32Mb. The specific model is MX25L25645. In addition, I found that there is an empty pad next to the flash memory. Can I solder another 25Q128?
If possible, can it be adapted to more languages, such as Chinese or can store more contacts?
Sorry for my bad english i used google translate

Re: About UV380 replacement flash memory
Adding memory will not change the number of channels or TG lists or Digital contracts in the codeplug. Because the format of the codeplug is designed by TYT and is fixed block size
Chinese language support would require a major rewrite to handle Unicode instead of ASCII characters in every part of the code and also a complete redesign of the layout, because Chinese developers already tried using a limited set of Chinese characters and the display resolution is too low to display them without making all text about 50% bigger

Re: About UV380 replacement flash memory
Hi!
I think these pads aren't prepared for the second Flash chip... The big tinned part not covered with the silkscreen seems to be there for soldering a chip with a metallic bottom for a good cooling... And flash chips don't need it and generally they don't have metallic bottoms .
