New Beta 2023 09 15

Post by VK3KYY » Fri Sep 15, 2023 10:05 pm

A new Beta is available

downloads/MDUV380_DM1701/Firmware/ad235 ... eb02229fa/

Changes in this version

* Channel order in zones can now be sorted by distance, using the Latitude and Longitude data entered into the CPS.
This works for all real zones, but Not the All Channels zone becuase this is not a real zone
Distance sorting is enabled via the "Dist sort" option in the Quick Menu
In this mode the distance is displayed in place of the channel number

* Distance can also be displayed at all times by using the "Show dist" option in the Display Options.

* Fixes and improvements to GPS course and accuracy display (Thanks to Daniel F1RMB)

* Czech language update

* Various other internal code changes and optimisations (Thanks to Daniel F1RMB)

Okay, I'm going to just leave the side cover off of my UV390, since you guys keep releasing new versions so fast. :D

Love it. Most of my gear is lucky to get one or two firmware updates during it's lifetime, but ya'll just continue to make OpenGD77 better and better.

Hey, the 2nd link (which I clicked on first) points to files dated 2023-09-04. Not sure if that's intentional or not, but thought I'd mention it.

Again, thank you es 73!

This is a browser caching problem. The page is set to no cache

http-equiv="Cache-Control" content="no-cache, no-store, must-revalidate">
http-equiv="Pragma" content="no-cache">
http-equiv="Expires" content="0">

However some browsers seem to be ignoring these directives

I think I'll need to give up on having a Latest link, as it seems to cause more confusion than it removes

Many thanks!

I really like the volume indicator (I know it was added a couple versions ago, but this version is the first I have installed since that feature was added).

These radios do not have hardware which supports any other frequencies

Thank you very much for your work on OPENGD77. I liked him very much :)

However, I have a problem with APRS in Retevis RT3S GPS. Attached is a screenshot of the settings. After pressing PTT + SK1/SK2, the word APRSTXT appears, a sound signal and... nothing happens. My position doesn't appear on aprs.fi.

Any suggestion on what to do to make aprs work? Maybe change the frequency to 144.8000?

Thanks

For reference, I have the same radio and with this version of the firmware and the CPS from today (the 17th) it is working fine here. https://aprs.fi/info/a/KF4HZU-7

144.800 should be the correct frequency for your country. Keep in mind your radio also needs to be heard by a local digipeter and also a local iGate to end up on aprs.fi. Often digipeters are also iGates but not always.

Since OpenGD77 can't detect if its packet is digipeted, I usually listen for the sound of it. You can sorta hear the duration of the APRS packet on transmit and you should hear the same duration if it is heard and digipeated. Obviously this is not very accurate but it is a start.

Make sure you are set to 5W and outdoors when you test. Are you hearing any APRS traffic in your area?

Using the latest firmware, you just need to press PTT, without SK1/SK2

Thank you for your suggestions and help. APRS finally launched. The call sound after sending data is sometimes heard.
You can find the position on the map. It is not always presented in one shot, but it works.

A question about aprs.fi - is it possible to make the map show the path an object follows?

Thank you and best regards
