No audio glitch

Post by ve3pv » Thu Oct 12, 2023 9:24 pm

Hello all.....l am running a tyt uv380 with a jumbospot and noticed that when I am having a qso with someone on a brandmeister talkgroup l don't hear his audio even though l see his signal.when l rotate the channel selector to the next channel then back his audio comes through. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

While I've not seen this during a QSO, it does happen occasionally when I'm listening to other's QSO on my hotspot - mine is a dual MMDVM hat on a Rasp Pi 3B.

I'm seem to recall that there is an older thread on this same issue, but no resolution or theories came out of that. I haven't seen the issue when not using my hotspot, so it _may_ be to do with hotspot issues such as frequency stability/precision, rather than an OpenGD77 issue.

Garbled audio also happens with the official firmware.

Using the official firmware its very common to have to change to another channel and back again when the audio goes wrong.

I personally experience much less garbled audio using the OpenGD77 firmware than I used to with the official firmware

But ultimately there is nothing we can do to completely resolve this problem as its inherent in the hardware.

I have been able to improve this problem by deactivating the DMR CRC parameter in the Menu.
To deactivate:
Menu, Options, Radio Options, DMR crc:off

When I use scanning my md-9600 can stop and I hear garbled Qso from the other time slot.

The same thing happens on RT3S. There is no such error on DM1801.
