Uploading to radio but com 1 fails
Uploading to radio but com 1 fails
Folks,
Apologies if I am missing something easy. I added opengd77 to my 1701 following all the great help docs.
Now when I want to write data to radio, it is asking for a comm port, but I thought this rig uses that USB feature.
What may I be missing please?
Thank you.
Ed

When running OpenGD77 the radio creates its own Com port when connected via USB. Make sure you installed the driver when you loaded the CPS.

Thank you for that, but it looks like the driver install is timing out as I see no success on this part.
I have attached the capture.
I also am installing w/ admin rights.

Re: Uploading to radio but com 1 fails
You can try installing the driver from https://www.sa0bux.se/Ham/opengd77/com_driver_files.zip
Maybe that gives some hints about a failed installation.
Also , Check in the device manager if some other device appears in the device manager when you power on the radio.
Maybe as another serial device that has "stealed" the USB dev ID.
The zip file was somewhere on opengd77.com earlier but I can't find that link now.
Re: Uploading to radio but com 1 fails
Thanks for the advice and files. So far, no luck on getting the drivers installed.
I may for the heck if it, wipe the OS and reinstall.
This will provide a clean start.

Re: Uploading to radio but com 1 fails
Best is to check in the Windows Device Manager.
You can start by testing with the radio in DFU mode, then device manager should show
This would prove that the cable and usb connection works.
After that , start radio in normal mode, if you have the proper driver installed it should appear as a serial device
named OpenGD77.
Without OpenGD77 serial driver it could appear as an USB Serial Device but it could have mapped to some other device driver too.
Why not start the Windows Device Manager and see if you can find your radio, you can also enable "View Hidden Devices"

Re: Uploading to radio but com 1 fails
Well all is good now. Oddly it appears that OpenGD77 never installed correctly. I went through the steps again line by line and presto, now all is good!
Thank you everyone that provided a thought on how to fix this.
